Does Walking Strengthen Pelvic Floor Muscles?
The good news is that walking can strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Just like any other muscle, the best way to strengthen your pelvic muscles is to use them.

from 127 reviewsHaving been diagnosed with a prolapse in June of last year I was prescribed female physio. I went to the scheduled appointments for around 6 months and they helped. However as soon as I stopped going, maybe because I was no longer being monitored I started to slip with regards to completing regular exercises. At the same time I had bought a set of Secret whisper weights but I never really persevered and so they remained unused (pretty much).
I had joined the Facebook group linked to secret whispers and had see people commenting on the 30 day challenge. By February time I was starting to get really uncomfortable again and began to get concerned that I was on a slippery slope back to the consultant so I took the plunge and signed up for the next 30 day challenge.
I think because I felt accountable I took this seriously and really believed that this was my chance to stay away from the Hospital. I have followed the programme, felt that there was always someone on the end of the line and have honestly not felt so good in a long time. The exercises were straight forward but if there was one that didn’t suit I knew it was acceptable to change it….which meant I still did something. I’ve learned how to avoid urge incontinence and have become a master at distracting myself if I’m in a situation where a toilet isn’t immediately available. I am now up to the 3rd stage on the weights (I wear them every morning in the shower and then (usually keep them in to do the first set of Kegel exercises in the programme.). To my delight I managed to complete a vipr class (weights based), for the first time in months using the breathing and just concentrating on using my pelvic floor correctly.
I’m not saying I won’t ever slip again, but I now know how to bring myself back on track & I believe that I can stay away from the need for surgery. I can’t thank Julie and the team enough for the support…..& there’s always another challenge!
Joining this group in January has really made a massive improvement in my journey with bladder prolapse. I have benefited so much, learnt loads AND from thinking there was no other way but to have a surgical repair I am now SO much better with applying what I have learnt, consistently, and the difference is AMAZING. I dont have urge incontinence anymore. Pelvic health improved.
Julie is so helpful and is a font of useful information. I really didnt think this programme that is so reasonably priced would be this beneficial.
My pelvic physio and consultant really impressed with my progress.
The consultant said “keep doing what you are doing, its working!"
Thank you Julie 💕
I’ve followed 4 of these 30 day courses after purchasing Kegel weights from Secret Whispers. For me it has been completely life changing. Not only have I gained so much control over my pelvic floor and bladder but joined so many other women that share the same experiences and learning together. No more planning my every trip by where there are toilets. My confidence is blooming I’m living and loving life. I’m running the Race for Life in June and would never have done it without support from this group. Big Thankyou and thumbs up from me. 👍
I joined the 30 day challenge as had been starting to leak when coughing and sneezing, the daily challenges were easy to understand and made sure we could correctly kegel concentrating on getting it right and then combining with other useful positions. The group was supportive and talked openly about different issues. I feel equipped to carry on, I've learnt so much, so thank you Juile.
I purchased this product a few months ago after researching how I could help myself without having to try and resort to drugs.
The initial support that I received when buying the product was absolutely fantastic.
I used the kegal balls for a couple of weeks as described and I could quickly tell they were definitely making a difference. Stupidly life got in way and I stopped using them and stopped the exercises and my pelvic floor muscles soon reverted and my incontinence returned as bad as ever. So when Secret Whispers offered a 30 day challenge course I decided to pay my money and try it.
Is all I can say is WOW. The course is now on day 18 and I have gone from using 3 small or 1 large pad a day to nothing (yes really).
So the moral is - buy the kegals, make sure you use them and if a course is offered definitely go for it.
My 3 children all do weights and now so do I! I’ve incorporated my kegel weights into my morning shower routine and find they are easy to insert, feel comfortable and give me a focus for doing my pelvic floor exercises. The smart packaging and bright colours definitely make it all seem more glamorous!
Highly recommend!
Great supportive group
Julie who runs it is excellent at what she does!
I was talking about it to my consultant who was very impressed how much its helped!
Thank you Julie and group.

I have always tried to do some sort of pelvic floor exercise, I had a tough time on My 3rd delivery and my last !!! I was kept in hospital for 5 days and only released because it was Christmas Eve ! I started back to teaching classes and it all felt so heavy and aching down there, so have tried everything now I found that the weights have been fantastic because I can feel my pelvic floor working. The biggest change is the pressure on my pelvic floor is 90% better and I have no constipation !!!
A fantastic closed group where you feel safe to talk about the pelvic floor problems personal to you and feel very supported by Julie and other group members. It has made me realise that the subject should not be a taboo because information is power.
By spending 15 minutes per day I have learned and understood a lot about my pelvic floor. I’ve learned how to easily incorporate the kegels in to my daily life without it feeling like a chore. I’ve learned different types of exercises and stretches and how to add kegels to those too.
The challenge is inspiring and I think I’d like to take part again.
Thank you Julie
I can’t express enough how wonderful these Challenges are! Each one I have done has been fantastic. The best way to remind us that Kegel exercises are for life.
The other ladies in the group have been so wonderful, sharing our thoughts and experiences, no embarrassment as it is a closed group and that is worth so much.
But also it’s given me the confidence to talk to others about something that can so easily be ignored. Thank you Julie for all your hard work! Can’t wait for the next one 😍
This is my first challenge and have enjoyed every day, nearly finished this one and would recommend you try it. Julie posts every morning at 6am, a daily challenge with exercises you can incorporate into your daily routine, as well of usual knack, slow and fast Kegels which you do daily to improve and maintain your pelvic floor. I bought the weights which I use just once a day and slowly increasing the time I can hold them in and what I can do with them, Ie move about and keep them in before I move up to heavier weights. Julie is encouraging and so are the rest of the group and you realise you not alone and lots of other women also have the same problem, but you can fix it with perseverance and just 15 minutes a day. You have to be patient and work with your body, and realise that some exercises will maybe not be right for you, but you can change or do something else instead. Would fully recommend you give it a try, what is there to lose. You deserve to put yourself first and look after yourself. Just 15 minutes makes a difference.
Julie's challenges really work. I have completed three which have been varied and interesting.
The group is supportive emotionally as well as sharing practical problems.
With Julie's practical help and encouragement my problems have really improved so I can relax when I'm out and sleep so much better.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get your pelvic floor muscles working. Julie guides us through the activities (only requires 15mins of your time a day) with superb knowledge, giving us brilliant tips along the way. It's fun, informative and with great participation from a group of like-minded women - what's not to love?!!
When you apply to join this special group, Julie takes your medical history into account.
We women are very good at putting everything before us. Our parents, our partners, our families, our work. I had managed life with a prolapse for 15 years before eventually having major gynae surgery in the summer of 2023. Unfortunately it revealed that my bladder had been kinked by the prolapse and had lost its mojo.
Medication helps, but Secret Whispers has really given me a much-needed boost. It is a series of exercises which focus on the pelvic floor and on our inner child.
Every morning Julie posts that day’s exercise on Facebook, along with a full demonstration and explanation of how to do it and how it works. We are encouraged to be proactive and Julie answers each comment personally. We all encourage each other and use our personal experience to guide others.
It doesn’t matter if you’re unable to do that day’s exercise, so long as you do the Knack, the basic but most important pelvic floor exercise, at least 3 times that day.
The only downside I can see is that I’m not sure how it works if you’re not on Facebook.
I have really noticed an improvement since starting this challenge and we are only half way through. Julie and all the other ladies in the group are lovely and very supportive. I have invited a number of friends to follow her website as I really do feel it can help everyone. Julie also holds talks with other health professionals with regards to women's health. E.g cervical cancer and menopause specialist.
